Day Three

These are pictures from yesterday. I am a day behind in my blogging and the builder moves at the speed of sound!

Here is the kitchen yesterday. Everything gone - wall between the kitchen and bedroom is gone and the closet is gone. Just waiting for the hardwood floor guy to come and take out the hardwood floor in the kitchen and closet so the new wall can be rebuilt.

A picture from the bedroom looking towards the living room. Fireplace still intact. As you can see the sliding doors on the right are the dining room.

This is the front of the house as of yesterday - those piles just keep getting bigger and bigger.

I spent a good deal of time this morning looking for my slippers. The problem is - I can't find anything - where I usually put things - or where they are supposed to be - isn't there any more. I finally found my slippers - where they really didn't belong. I couldn't find my camera battery charger either this morning - that has also since been located.

It is all starting to drive me a little crazy and we are only 4 days in!! I think the rebuilding might be a bit easier than the destroying - but I could be wrong.

  1. Oh, my -- it does look different! I hope the rebuilding goes as quickly as the demolishing so you'll be done in no time and enjoying your new kitchen!

  3. I understand how living through this kind of chaos can be, eventually you will start to see the payoff and you can forget the pain. Best wishes for a speedy finish!

  4. OMG I should have read your blog before sending you an email. I didn't realize you were in the middle of a disaster. It will all be worth it when it's done. No pressure, let me know if you need to get out of that mess.

  5. We redid our only bathroon last Nov. and the trim still needs painting. The total weight at the dump was 1.6 tons. And I think there was another 100 pounds of dust all over my house and a lot of it is still here. Make sure you clean every day to try and minimize the dust and little bits of plaster that seem to be everywhere. I can't wait to see your end result.

  6. I totally empathize as we are doing the same things. The renovations and painting have been going on now for a while, and it is hard. Well, the end result will be stunning for both of us, i am sure.

  7. Building from scratch is totally easier than a remodel. You don't have to go through this demolition and removal of building materials and appliances. And you probably wouldn't have to try to carry on a normal life in the midst of upheaval ~ but this new house is going to be so worth it when it's done ~ it's going to be sweet. Aren't you due for a trip to Sisters Oregon soon?
