Top stitch the top flap of the bag

I top stitch the flap of the bag after it is ironed. The small opening is easily closed with top stitching. The opening can also be slip stitched closed.

Finished bag.
Now is this clear as mud? Good thing I don't write instruction books for a living. And it is hard to do because I am trying to do it from start to finish but backwards so it reads the right way in the blog.

  4. Thank you for the tutorial. I am going to have to make something like this. It's really pretty. I have some of that fabric in a different colorway, and really like it.

Excellent tutorial, and especially since you had to do it backwards! I love all kinds of bags - this one is very cute. I can see myself making lots of these for presents.

  6. Made one! Worked just as you said it would. =) I didn't have the right kind of ribbon, so I used a button and buttonhole. Next time, I would stitch on some velcro and glue the button on! =)

Thanks for the tutorial. Now I'm thinking about making it a bit smaller and using crazy quilting on the flap. =)
